I have a very nice, large, inherited table. I want to use it, not "museum" it, but I have small children, and I'm wiping up spills OFTEN. I needed something that would be kind to the finish of the table (the soft backing), sturdy enough to take the abuse of children and subsequent cleaning, and simple. This fits the bill.

I like that I can put it on the table without a tablecloth, and it still looks finished enough for day-to-day use. I like that it could be trimmed to fit my table precisely.

If something happened to the one I have, I'd buy this again, absolutely.
