I purchased two of these refractometers recently for use in a bio fuel project. Before reading of the usefulness of a refractometer in "Alcohol Can Be a Gas", I had no idea that such a device even existed.

My project has is not currently in full operation but the preliminary use of and the calibration of these refractometers has been positive.

These are the first of this type of instrument that I've used so there is nothing to compare them to.

They seem to be very robust despite being sensitive optical devices. The quality of craftsmanship is very good and the rotating eyepiece, the focus movement, is smooth and consistent.

The view through the meter displays a clear and understandable graph. The contrast between the background and the specimen is very clear.

Each unit comes with a protective black nylon like zipper bag.

I'm satified with both of them and would recommend them.
