Our family of four-- including a toddler and a preschooler-- was going through paper towels and napkins like crazy. The wastefulness (in terms of expense AND the environment) was unnecessary and bothersome, so I searched and found these. I'm very happy with them- at 20" square, they're large enough to be 'bibs' and napkins for the kids, and are generous enough to fully cover adult laps, too. Because they are cotton, and not a slick poly-blend, their absorbency is terrific. I keep a basket of clean, folded ones on top of the fridge, and another basket for dirty napkins on top of the washing machine. When the basket's full, I do a quick load of just the napkins- detergent, a little bleach and some super-hot water has gotten out what I'd expected to be permanent stains from blueberries, tomato sauce, chocolate, cherries, etc (even if the 'stain' sat for a few days until they were washed). They've gone through at least five cycles so far and are holding up with only minor pilling-- nothing too bad, but enough to detract one star, since they are still fairly new. I don't think these are formal guest-quality, at least not after several washings, but for 3x-daily family use, they're great, and a great value.
