I bought an expensive oak table and wanted to protect it without having to cover its beauty with a tablecloth. I cringed at the thought of placemats, remembering my grandmother's hokey quilted ones or my mother's plastic ones (with roosters). So I took a quick run through Amazon's offerings and these came up. Really? A classy placemat? Yes. Subtle herbal design doesn't clash with my natural kitchen, VERY sturdy, heat-proof, smooth & easy to wipe down with a sponge (not textured like so many others) and just well-made. and no roosters (or cows)!
