I have always preferred a tablecloth over bare table or place mats. I guess it's my parents' influence, as I grew up with tablecloths, even when there were five kids around the table and had tablecloths on the table when there were 3 little people around my table. We recently redid our kitchen and went from a rectangular to a 48" round kitchen table. Sixty-inch tablecloths are HARD to find and 70", while much easier to find, is just too big!

These 60-inch clothes are good quality for the price, so it looks very nice but we can use it casually and not worry about the risk of spoiling it quickly from everyday wear and tear and spills. I like the subtle stripe which gives it some elegance without making it "fancy." It's fairly light weight and it is actually _round_ (many round table clothes are actually much "out of round.") It washed up very nicely, which I appreciated. It came out of the dryer looking pretty good, but after I ironed it (yes, Virginia, some folks still iron!) it was perfect. I'll get it in several colors and use them for a long time.

Edit: April 2013 - A year and a half later and I'm still very pleased with the tablecloths. I have returned today to get one in the "linen" and am considering the maroon or dark red. Haven't decided.
